Buying
How do I know the pieces are authentic?
Every listing is manually reviewed by our team before going live. We check photos, descriptions, and condition claims. While we are not a physical authentication service, our review process weeds out misrepresented items. We also encourage buyers to ask sellers for additional photos or provenance details through the Contact Seller form.
What condition gradings do you use?
We use three tiers: New (unworn, tags may or may not be present), Used — Like New (worn once or twice, no visible wear), and Used — Good (worn a handful of times, minor signs of use noted in the description). Every listing must accurately reflect the condition chosen.
Can I return an item if it is not as described?
We encourage buyers and sellers to communicate thoroughly before purchase. If an item arrives significantly not as described, please contact us and we will do our best to mediate. All transactions are ultimately between the buyer and seller, so we recommend reviewing all photos and asking questions before committing.
Are pieces available to try on or collect in person?
That is entirely up to the seller. Some sellers are happy to arrange a local meet-up, especially for high-value pieces. You can ask through the Contact Seller form on any listing page.

Is it free to list on The Desi Closet?
Yes — listing is completely free for everyone, whether you are an individual passing on a preloved piece or a small boutique listing new stock. There are no upfront fees, no subscriptions, and no commission taken from your sale.
How long does listing approval take?
We aim to review all new listings within 24–48 business hours. You will receive a notification once your listing is approved and live, or if we need any additional information from you.
What types of items can I sell?
We welcome both preloved and new Pakistani fashion — shalwar kameez, suits, lehengas, sherwanis, dupattas, and accessories. Preloved items must be clean, wearable, and honestly described. New items from boutiques are listed under the 'New' condition and should be genuine stock you are selling as a business.
I run a small boutique — can I list my new stock here?
Absolutely. The Desi Closet is designed for boutique sellers as well as individuals. If you run a small Pakistani fashion business, you are very welcome to list your new pieces here and reach our community of dedicated buyers. Simply create an account, list your items with the 'New' condition selected, and our team will review and approve within 48 hours.
Can I set my own price?
Yes — you set your own price. For preloved items, we encourage fair pricing that gives the piece its best chance of finding a new home. For boutique sellers listing new stock, price as you would in your own store.
Should I include shipping in my price?
Usually not. Shipping costs vary depending on where the buyer is, so it's simpler to list the item price on its own and agree shipping separately. If you'd rather set one price that includes shipping, that's your choice.
Account & General
Do I need an account to browse the shop?
No — anyone can browse and view listings without an account. You only need to create a free account to list items for sale or to use the Contact Seller form.
What happens if a piece does not sell?
There is no time limit on listings. Your piece stays live until it sells or you choose to remove it. You can edit the price or description at any time from your member portal.
Is The Desi Closet available internationally?
Our community is based all around the world. Sellers are welcome from anywhere and buyers can arrange international shipping directly with sellers.
